Joe DiMaggio’s legendary hitting streak lasted how many consecutive games? Explained

Joe DiMaggio’s remarkable streak of hitting in 56 consecutive games during the 1941 season remains one of the most formidable records in sports history. From May 15 to July 16, he achieved the remarkable feat of registering at least one hit in every single game, a record that has stood unchallenged in Major League Baseball since. This extraordinary streak captured the imagination of the nation, even inspiring the popular song “Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio.” Although the streak concluded on July 17, 1941, when he failed to secure a hit against the Cleveland Indians, DiMaggio astonishingly embarked on another hitting streak the following day, extending for 16 games. In total, he managed hits in 72 out of 73 games across the two combined streaks.
