What group started out as Linda Ronstadt’s backing band? Answer
The influential American rock group that started out as Linda Ronstadt’s backing band is The Eagles.
In early 1971, while putting together a touring band for her album Silk Purse, Ronstadt and her manager, John Boylan, recruited four musicians: Glenn Frey (guitar/vocals), Don Henley (drums/vocals), Randy Meisner (bass/vocals), and Bernie Leadon (guitar/banjo/vocals). Although they only played one major show with Ronstadt at Disneyland, the immediate chemistry and mutual talent among the four were unmistakable. By the end of the tour, Frey and Henley approached Ronstadt for her blessing to split off and form their own group, which they quickly did, signing with David Geffen’s new Asylum Records label and launching The Eagles, one of the most successful bands in rock history.
