Instead, Paris relies on traffic lights and enforces a strict regulation called priorité à droite (“priority to the right”), granting vehicles on the right precedence at most intersections. Although Paris was not always devoid of stop signs, there was a solitary one located in the city’s 16th district at one point. Despite this sign’s unique historical significance, it was taken down approximately a decade ago and has not been reinstated since.
