Which College Football Bowl Game has been Held on New Year’s Day Since 1916?

The Rose Bowl Game is the historic college football event that has been held on New Year’s Day since its permanent reinstatement in 1916. Often referred to by the prestigious nickname “The Granddaddy of Them All,” it was actually first played much earlier in 1902 at Tournament Park in Pasadena. However, after a lopsided victory by Michigan over Stanford, football was replaced by chariot races and ostrich racing for several years until the city decided to bring the gridiron action back to the holiday festivities permanently.
