Explanation:
[STC0018657]. The National Football League — or, as it was known at the time, the American Professional Football Association — was founded in 1920. Only two of the original 14 teams are still active today: the Decatur Staleys, who became the Chicago Bears in 1922, and the Racine Cardinals, who became the Arizona Cardinals through a series of franchise relocations. Although both the Staleys and the Cardinals joined the APFA on September 17, 1920, the Cardinals squad predates the Staleys by several years. The Racine Street Cardinals were founded in 1898 as the Morgan Athletic Club, but they were known as the Racine Street Cardinals due to their cardinal red jerseys, which they purchased used from the University of Chicago. After failing to find much success on the pitch in Chicago, the Cardinals relocated to St. Louis in 1960. After a few very successful seasons, they relocated to Arizona in 1988, where they remained.
