THE VIEW OUT OF A WINDOW IN FRANCE

Explanation:

[STC0015944]. Joseph Nicéphore Niépce snapped the first known photograph of the world outside his window in Burgundy, France, in 1826. Niépce was interested in lithography, the process of making copies of artwork with the help of a stone or metal plate and oil-based ink, and sought out other methods of doing so. He prepared a pinhole camera and used it to project a picture onto a piece of pewter that had been given a particular coating. Within a few hours, it had created the first ever lasting snapshot. The photograph is currently on display at UT-Austin.
