In 961, the pagoda known as Yunyan Temple was constructed atop Huqiu Hill in the Chinese city of Suzhou. The pagoda is almost 150 feet in height, has eight sides, and is made of brick. Since the higher levels were once only accessible by mobile ladders, there are no stairs within to connect the stories. The structure has a three-degree lean, but it was reinforced in the 1950s so that it will remain upright for at least another few hundred years.
